Vulcan Victory
One of the funniest segments on any talk-show recently was Joey Bishop's abbortive attempt to interview Leonard Nimoy the other night. Nimoy, dressed in his Mr. Spock makeup, absolutely demolished Bishop by refusing to drop his alien character and answer Bishop's questions in the expected manner.
Stunned by Nimoy's refusal to play the game his way, Bishop stuttered, stumbled and lapsed into silence. "Who is this 'Leonard' you speak of?" asked Spock. "Uh, that's you," mumbled our host. "I am Spock," said Spock, "yet you call me Leonard. That is highly illogical."
And so went the interview. Bishop was literally beaten into asking such things as, "How do you like Earth?"
After seeing many excellent guests trampled on by hammy hosts who hog the Microphone and get laughs at their company's expenses, it was a pleasure to see our Vulcan visitor came out on top.
